Established in 1934 by employees with less than $50 in deposits, the credit union’s assets grew to $664 by the end of the year. Initially named Omaha Telephone Employees Federal Credit Union, it evolved into Bell Federal Credit Union in 1974 and eventually became Centris Federal Credit Union in 2000. Originally serving Northwestern Bell Telephone employees, the credit union expanded its membership to include individuals from various Nebraska and Iowa communities. While now catering to a more diverse member base, Centris Federal Credit Union takes pride in retaining telephone employee members, reflecting its commitment to adapt to changing economic landscapes and membership groups.
