Citizens National Bank has a rich history that spans 135 years, making it one of the oldest banks in Mississippi. Established on March 6, 1888, with a handwritten charter granted by the Mississippi Legislature, the bank initially operated as Citizens Savings Bank with humble beginnings in a store on a dirt street in downtown Meridian.
Throughout its history, Citizens National Bank has demonstrated steady growth and expansion. The bank moved into a newly constructed seven-story building at 512 Twenty-Second Avenue in 1912, where it operated for approximately 50 years. In the early 1960s, this building was demolished to make way for the current CNB building, completed in 1967.
Today, Citizens National Bank stands as one of the largest community banks in Mississippi, with over $1.7 billion in assets. It also manages an additional $1.6 billion in its Wealth Management Division. The bank has achieved its growth organically, focusing on building relationships and serving its valued customers, embodying a commitment to stability and security.
