DuTrac was born in 1946 when employees of John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works sought to provide an alternative financial option for their coworkers. Starting with one office within the plant, 56 members, and a modest $2,000 in deposits, DuTrac has grown into a not-for-profit cooperative serving nearly 50,000 members across a 34-county area.
As a cooperative, DuTrac operates with the sole purpose of serving its members rather than maximizing corporate profits. This means that any profits earned are returned to members through lower loan rates and higher deposit rates, distinguishing DuTrac from for-profit financial institutions. When you join DuTrac, you not only become a member but also an owner, benefiting from a financial institution committed to community and cooperative values.
